Allianz – Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for coverage under the Allianz Visitors to Canada policy, you must meet the following
conditions:
You are NOT eligible if:
- a) Diagnosed with a terminal illness
- b) Diagnosed with stage 3 or 4 cancer
- c) Received treatment for any cancer (except basal or squamous cell skin cancer or breast cancer treated only with hormone therapy) within the past 3 months
- d) Require assistance with activities of daily living due to a medical condition or state of health
You are eligible if:
- You are at least 15 days old and under 90 years of age (as of the effective date)
- You are not eligible for or insured under any Canadian government health insurance plan
- You are in good health at the time of purchase and on your departure from your country of origin
- You do not know of any reason to seek medical attention during the coverage period
Eligibility
1. Coverage is NOT AVAILABLE to any individual who, as of their effective date:
- a) has been diagnosed with a terminal illness; or
- b) has been diagnosed with stage 3 or 4 cancer; or
- c) has received treatment for any cancer (other than basal or squamous cell skin cancer or breast cancer treated only with hormone therapy) in the past 3 months; or
- d) requires assistance with activities of daily living as the result of a medical condition or state of health.
2. To be eligible for coverage, you must, as of the effective date:
- a) be at least 15 days old and not more than 89 years old; and
- b) not be insured or eligible for benefits under a Canadian government health insurance plan; and
- c) be in good health at the time you purchase your policy and on the date you exit your country of origin, and know of no reason to seek medical consultation during the period of coverage.
- d) requires assistance with activities of daily living as the result of a medical condition or state of health.
Allianz – What’s Not Covered?
The following general exclusions apply to all coverages under the Allianz Visitors to Canada policy.
These are situations and expenses that will not be covered by the insurance:

Pre-existing medical conditions that are not stable before the effective date of your coverage.
Stability periods vary based on your age:Under 60 years old: Must be stable for at least 90 days before the effective date.
60 to 89 years old: Must be stable for at least 180 days before the effective date.

Ongoing treatment, unless approved in advance by Allianz Global Assistance.

Suicide or self-inflicted injuries.

Pregnancy-related issues, including any conditions arising from pregnancy.

Abuse of alcohol or drugs, including the misuse of medication.

Participation in high-risk or professional sports activities.
-
Sickness or injury caused by a motor vehicle accident if you are also covered under a motor vehicle insurance policy.

Travel to secure medical treatment (i.e., seeking treatment abroad).

Travelling against the advice of a physician.
-
Non-emergency or elective treatment, including treatments that are not immediately necessary.

Rehabilitation, convalescent care, dental or cosmetic surgery.

Treatment or services prohibited under a government hospital/medical plan.
-
Travel to regions with a travel warning issued by the Canadian Government advising you to avoid all travel or avoid non-essential travel.

Acts of war, terrorism, or any nuclear occurrences.
What’s not covered?
Travel insurance is designed to cover losses that are sudden and unforeseen. It does not cover every situation and expense.
The following is not a complete list of exclusions. For a full list of exclusions, please refer to your Policy.
You will not be paid for expenses that are in any way due to, contributed by, or resulting from:

Pre-existing medical condition that is not stable before the effective coverage date. The stability period varies based on your age,

If you are 59 years of age or younger: 90 days

If you are 60 to 89 years of age: 180 days

Any on-going treatment unless approved in advance by Allianz Global Assistance.
